Original works of art (photographs, paintings, artworks, etc.) are copyright-protected. A copyright gives its holder the exclusive right to reproduce the work or a significant portion thereof. The duration of copyright protection varies according to the type of work and its author. For most works, the duration starts the moment it is created, remains valid for the duration of the author’s life and extends a further 50 years as of the end of the author’s year of death.
